We’ve worn and written about slow fashion for a decade — these are our favorite brands for plus size sustainable clothing that are ethical, eco-friendly, and offer sizes for XXXL and up.
For sustainable fashion to transition from niche to normal, it’s vital that fair fashion be accessible to everyone who wants to engage in it — and that includes thoughtfully made plus-size clothing. For so long, the path to adopting the slow fashion movement was blocked as brands failed to offer inclusive sizes. But not so much anymore!
Why is it so difficult to find sustainable plus size options?
Finding sustainable plus-size options can be tricky because many brands still overlook the demand for inclusive sizing, especially in the slow fashion world. Sustainable clothing often requires more specialized materials and production methods, which can make it harder to scale for a wider range of sizes. Plus-size designs also need more attention to fit and structure, which some brands are hesitant to invest in. Unfortunately, these challenges all boil down to the lingering stigma and discrimination against plus-size people in the fashion industry.
However, things are improving as more brands realize the importance of size inclusivity in sustainability. More companies are now offering extended sizes, focusing on better design and fit for plus-size bodies. The push for body positivity and diversity is also encouraging more eco-friendly brands to expand their size ranges, creating more options for everyone. We’ve taken the hassle out of searching for good quality sustainable plus size clothing, and are sharing the best sustainable gear for sizes XXXL and up so you can express yourself through the clothing you love!

Our editors have worn and loved sustainable fashion for a decade or more, but finding plus size options can be difficult. - BRAND ETHICS | These brands all have fair labor practices that ensure the people making your clothes are safe and compensated. Many of these brands also have give-back programs that replenish their communities.
- ECO-FRIENDLY | From clean sourcing and manufacturing processes to low-waste production, the brands on this list aim to have a low impact on the environment. We’ve noted brands that have carbon and climate-neutral certifications, too.
